Arguably the number one toy of the 90's was the beloved Furby.

The creepy toy was also loved by hackers, and this Furby hacking community is still going strong.

Hasbro is still cranking out the lovable toys, and they are also featuring new, and crazy patterns.

But the major changes to the toy has came from hackers, who have taken modern-day Furbies and made it so they can "perform specific functions" if you get a Twitter mention or an email.

The most recent development is called the "Open Furby project," which would allow everyone to craft/hack the Furby of their dreams. If there is enough interest a Kickstarter campaign may happen in order to bring more people on board the Furby hacking bandwagon.
