Some fashion moments live in my head rent-free. Princess Diana’s revenge dress; Lady Gaga's meat outfit... And, of course, the regal yellow Guo Pei gown Rihanna wore to the 2015 Met Gala! 💛
You may not believe it but we can now gawk over Rihanna's beautiful 'omelette' dress in Guo Pei's NZ exhibition! 👗
The yellow dress weighs 25kg and required an entourage of three people to finesse the New York red carpet appearance that launched an array of memes. 😂
Some people likened it to an omelette; others photoshopped pizza imagery on the circular train!
Open until May 2024, Guo Pei: Fashion, Art, Fantasy 郭培 : 时装之幻梦 is a once-in-a-lifetime art exhibit at the Auckland Art Gallery, Toi O Tamaki. The 60 garments follow a journey from one dreamscape to another and were all by the Beijing-based designer, including several never before displayed in a museum.
While the Yellow Empress cape made famous by Rihanna is the main attraction that has got people through the door, every single piece is deserving of icon status. 😍
