14 years since 1D formed and we're still not over the timeline of the biggest boy band in history.

On July 23rd, 2010, five young lads from around England and Ireland were selected by Simon Cowell (that detail is highly contested, check out this video) to form a group that would work together during The X Factor Uk’s Boot Camp Stage.

Those five lads were Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlison, Harry Styles and Zayn Malik.  All five accepted the offer, later becoming One Direction and making it all the way to the final of The X Factor UK, placing third!

Little did we know just how important this day in popculture histoy would turn out to be!

While the band was together, they released five studio albums - Up All Night (2011), Take Me Home (2012), Midnight Memories (2013), Four (2014), and Made in the A.M. (2015) and embarked on four world tours, talk about a busy schedule.

March 25th, 2015, six weeks after the start of One Direction’s fourth tour ‘On the Road Again’ the band released a statement on their Facebook that Zayn Malik would be leaving.

Although, last year – on the Call Her Daddy podcast Zayn said there was more to it.

Throughout 2015, rumors spread that the band would be breaking up – Niall debunked these rumors with this tweet, stating they would be taking a well-earned break in 2016.

2016, marked the start of the group's hiatus, which was reported by Us Weekly to become a permeant split as the four remaining group members did not renew their contracts after the On the Road Again Tour ended in October 2015.

This report was denied by a representative of One Direction, in a statement to Billboard, saying that "nothing has changed regarding hiatus plans for the group, and all will be revealed in due time from the band members' own mouths."

All of the boys have gone on the form their own solo careers, and we still love them as much as we did when they first came into our lives 14 Years Ago!
