My Chemical Romance Hint At First New Album In 15 Years

It sounds like there could finally be new My Chemical Romance music on the horizon ཐི⋆♱⋆ཋྀ 

The iconic rock band has hinted they may be working towards their first studio album since 2010's Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, with frontman Gerard Way telling fans the group has "always really wanted to make another record."

Speaking on stage during the band's show at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas over the weekend, Gerard reflected on the challenges that have delayed new music, while also giving fans hope that another album could eventually become a reality.

"We've kinda always really wanted to make another record," he told the crowd.

"We hope that life allows us to do that."

The band are currently touring on their 'Long Live The Black Parade' tour in celebration of the 20th anniversary of The Black Parade (2006).

The Welcome to the Black Parade hitmakers reunited in 2019 and have only released one new song since then, 2022's The Foundations of Decay. Fans have spent the last few years wondering whether the track was a one-off release or the beginning of a new era for the band.

During the emotional speech, Gerard revealed there had been discussions about making more music after the release of The Foundations of Decay, but those plans were impacted by the sudden death of longtime friend and collaborator Doug McKean.

"Doug was like, my best friend," Gerard said, recalling the pair's final conversation shortly before Doug unexpectedly died from a brain haemorrhage in June 2022.

Doug worked closely with the band throughout their career, contributing to The Black Parade, Danger Days, Gerard's solo album Hesitant Alien, and producing The Foundations of Decay.

Gerard explained that after the release of the band's comeback single, he was excited about the possibility of creating more music.

"Decay was really awesome, let's keep doing it," he recalled thinking.

But after Doug's passing, "life happens" and plans changed.

Despite the setbacks, Gerard made it clear that the desire to make another album has never gone away.

"You guys kept us alive so long," he told fans.

"You guys deserve another record, and we'd love to do that. I don't know when it'll be, but it'll be awesome."

The comments have naturally reignited excitement among My Chemical Romance fans, particularly as the band recently announced a 20th anniversary edition of The Black Parade, featuring new artwork by acclaimed artist James Jean.

While there's no official album announcement just yet, it sounds like the door is definitely open, and for MCR fans, that's enough to start getting excited. 🖤
