Well, this could change things ...

Airbnb have announced they will no longer be be renting to under 25 year olds, and that could throw a spanner in the works for those yet to plan summer.

The new set of rules follows the company's crackdown on parties and problematic behaviour.

"We know that people over the age of 24 are perfectly capable of booking a home for the wrong reasons, too. But based on the positive impact this policy has had on unauthorised parties booked by guests under 25, we believe this is the right action to continue to protect the safety of our community."

However, there may be a saving grace, with a few exceptions to the rule.

Under 25's will still be able to book private rooms in hotels and hostels via their website, and those with three or more positive and no negative reviews are free to book as normal.

The new rules have been rolled out in the US and Canada already, but there's no news just yet on when New Zealanders will be affected.
