The Real Meaning For the Song ‘Who Let The Dogs Out’ Isn’t What You Think It Is

You'd be lying if you said you didn't remember "Who Let The Dogs Out". Hello, track of childhood much!? 

We all know the words (at least to the chorus) but apparently we had no idea what we were actually singing about. 

The track by Baha Men was one of the most popular songs of the year 2000. Side note: OMG IT'S BEEN 16 YEARS!?

We all thought it sounded happy and fun but never really sat and had a think about what it was actually about. 

The lyrics say, “And tell the fellas stop the name callin' / Yepee ah yo / Then them girls respond to the call / I hear a woman shout out / Who let the dogs out?”

It's actually about men who catcall women and call them names and are disrespectful and the women respond by calling them dogs...

Mind = blown.

Anslem Douglas, the writer of the song, explained. "The men started the name-calling and then the girls respond to the call. And then a woman shouts out, 'Who let the dogs out?' And we start calling men dogs. It was really a man-bashing song."
